BISCAST, Naga City – The Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) hosted the 2019 Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Roadshow in Naga City on March 25, 2019 at BISCAST ETC Hall.

Aside from BISCAST officials, staff and students, at least 300 participants from the national and local government agencies, non-government organizations, and the media attended in the roadshow.

PCOO Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin M. Andanar led the event to engage the public with the initiatives of the Duterte administration in terms of responsible sharing of information, transparency and accountability in the government, campaign against illegal drugs, and protection of journalists.

Atty. Kristian R.Ablan, PCOO Assistant Secretary and FOI Philippines Program Director tackled the importance of FOI program particularly how it helps in ending proliferation of fake news.

PCOO Office of the Brand Integration Chief of Staff Karl Fajardo shared the state’s crusade against illegal drugs through Rehabinasyon while Undersecretary Joel Sy Egco, Executive Director of the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) discussed their efforts to enhance the protection of local media practitioners.

According to Andanar, the roadshow aimed to ensure an extensive reach for the agency’s information, education, and communications campaign.

Meanwhile, Andanar and BISCAST Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Dr. Isidro R. Bola led the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of FOI programs in school.

Bola said that he is hoping that said activity will be fruitful and will be beneficial to many particularly to the BISCAST community.

Following the Naga City leg of the event, the roadshow will proceed to Legazpi City for the same event.
