BISCAST, Naga City – Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region V conducted another SETUP- DATBED Program Orientation Seminar last February 26 at BISCAST ETC Hall.

Participants of said activity are students from the College aiming to become young entrepreneurs.

Among those who are present in the orientation seminar are DOST Provincial Director Ms. Patrocinio N. Felizmenio, SRS II and DATBED Coordinator Ms. Lhea Dyn Bellen, and Institutional PED Coordinator, Engr. John Joshua Montañez.

DOST’s Technology Based Enterprise Development (DATBED) provides fund to students who are inclined into business and loves to turn raw materials into any products whether food or non-food.

According to Montañez, it’s high time for students to avail this project if they really want to pursue production.

He said, “Our students should avail and support this program by DOST because it will equip them to real challenges of business life.”

Meanwhile, Montañez confirmed that five applications have already been submitted to DOST and they are still waiting for the agency’s confirmation.

Last February 7, DOST V conducted the DATBED Fund Transfer Release to BISCAST for VeGelato, a project by students Maria Evelyn dela Peña and Joshua Boletic.

VeGelato is an ice cream with ampalaya and seaweed flavor.

This product has already gained recognition particularly in Business Idea and Development Awards (BIDA) Awards.
