BISCAST, Naga City – Athletes and coaches of Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) proudly raised their flag in the 2018 Bicol State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Meet after placing second, held last December 9-14 at Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBEMESCAST) in Mandaon, Masbate.

BISCAST bagged a total of 92 medals including 58 golds, 24 bronzes and 10 silvers.

The College garnered gold medals in the following sports events: arnis (29), karatedo (10), taekwondo (9) chess (4), and volleyball (6).

Spartan athletes also generated silver medals on events like karatedo (7), taekwondo (2), and arnis (1).

The 24 bronze medals came from BISCAST’s taekwondo (8), arnis (6), badminton (4), chess (4) and karatedo (2).

BISCAST Sports Coordinator Ms. Marivic Paghubasan said she is proud and thankful to the athletes and coaches after breaking its third placement last Regional SCUAA Meet.

Meanwhile, College President Dr. Richard H. Cordial mentioned that he was very pleased by the result since this is by far the highest placement of BISCAST in the said highly competitive sports challenge.

Bicol University, also last year’s champion topped the medal tally.

SCUAA’s yearly competition is participated by different SUCs in the region including Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Camarines Norte State Colleges (CNSC), Camarines Sur Polytechnic College (CSPC), Sorsogon State College (SSC), Partido State University (PSU), and DEBEMESCAST.
