BISCAST, Naga City – To recognize the importance and urgency of disaster risk reduction, the Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) launched its Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA) Program on Monday, November 19.
Camarines Sur Gov. Miguel Luis Villafuerte and former 3rd District Rep. Luis Villafuerte led the activity which was witnessed by the students and faculty members.
According to BISCAST President Dr. Richard H. Cordial who was also present during the event, it is the institution’s way of highlighting the importance of climate change awareness which shall be addressed not only to the youth but also to the entire community.
Meanwhile, a reading of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between BISCAST and the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur was also conducted.
Said MoA allows the College to use the lot owned by the provincial government of Camarines Sur as the school’s evacuation area and for other purposes such as parking area.
The DRR-CCA launching was one of the highlights of BISCAST’s 6th Charter Anniversary.
