BISCAST, Naga City – Dr. Geraldine C. Alvina, Associate Professor IV from the College of Education (COE) won the Best Paper Award in the 4th Regional Forum on Education and Research held last November 8-10 at Regent Hotel, Naga City.

Alvina’s research paper entitled “Confidence and Readiness of Pre-Service Teachers: Basis for Mentoring Program” won the prestigious award under the Teachers’ Category which was participated by several faculty researchers, and extension practitioners from different higher education institutions (HEIs) in Bicol Region.

Said study aims to present a framework for a mentoring program that would assist the pre-service teachers during their practicum and would update the in-service teachers of the new trends in pedagogy.

Her research paper also assessed the levels of competence, as well as the readiness of pre-service teachers based on their practicum evaluation forms, and on the relevant domains of Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST).

The event which was hosted by Central Bicol State University of Agriculture – College of Development Education focused on the theme “Looking at the Philippine Curricular Context through the Lens of Global Dynamics” aiming to examine the state of teacher education in Bicol through the salient features, challenges and opportunities brought about by the new teacher education curriculum.
